International Womens Day 8th March 2010
Scott S. says Women were made from a man's rib, not from his head to be superior, not from his feet to be walked on; but from his side to be Equal, from under the arm to be Protected, and from next to the Heart to be Loved!
Charles J. says Trust Women! Women have been our backbone Ever since the dawn of Man Without them there’s no meaning To that Heavenly plan.
Though Man has tried to stifle them And not listen to their voice Finally laws have come to pass That give, Women, their choice. Some people still won’t recognize That freedom, is for everyone We’d be back to the old ways If, their backward will, was done.
In some countries, they are slaves And like livestock, sold and bought Jailed, beaten, even murdered For having, independent thought.
Our Nation claims to be better (Though not long, since they could vote) Equal to a Man, in many ways But not, in all, we should note.
Seems when they finally get a Right Some people, want to take it back Like now, when right of choice Has come under their attack.
The Right, to control their bodies Is one, they want to take away To force their will on everyone Surely not, the American way!
There have even been some murders Of those who, uphold that Right and Law While claiming, “the right to life” What an ignorant, mental flaw!
We should trust all those Women And respect, their Right to Choice Not let the few, silence them Take away that Right, their Voice. Del “Abe” Jones? This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
Sandra Q. says I so agree with DianneD..Self respect and respect for other women..I cringe when I hear women call other women names..
Dianne D. says Women are our own worst enemies. When we call each other names that men have labeled us with such a b*t*h, sl*t, etc. we are holding ourselves back. We are showing disrespect for other women. Until women start respecting each other, we will have a hard road ahead of ourselves.
Joseph Belisle says I have a hard time understanding why people do not consider women as equals to men. ?I know the reasons people consider women less than men. But in any sound, reasoning, rational mind, you must come to the conclusion that women and men are equal. ?The justifications for sexism are either founded on poor logic or religious bias.
Paula B. says I think women themselves can be their worst enemy when it comes to feminism. I can't say how many women I know who do not consider themselves feminists. I like to ask them, so you don't vote then, right?
KS Wong says In Hong Kong and Singapore, we don't have Women's Day but Mother's Day Instead. We think mothers are the greatest women as they bring up, not only us, but also the greatest man in the World. We celebrate Mother's Day by taking the mother to restaurant for delicious and sumptuous dinner
Jan T. says Women are women first, and the country in which they live is secondary. We all need to work towards equality of all women everywhere.
Kimberly Clark says It's nice to concern ourselves with women of other Countries, but, remember, we don't have equality here in America. When we win the fight on our own dirt, then, and only then, we'll be enabled to help others less fortunate. I'm not sure, though, if the battle of the sexes will ever be won by us. Men don't listen to women; that's a fact. When women speak, they hear the noise, not the words. It's been obvious to me, since a young age, who the superior gender is, but, education is needed to let others know. I recommend "The Natural Superiority of Women" by Ashley Montagu.
Christiane Wawrok says In the former GDR (where I wasw born), Women's Day was really celebrated. But nowadays it's getting displaced by Mother's Day. No discussion about the problems the GDR had, but I don't think that only having children makes a woman.
Mervi R. says We have Women´s Day in Finland, but it´s nowhere near as popular as Mother´s Day in May which is really a shame since it celebrates ALL women regardsless of whether they have children or not...
Denise S. says It's not just in uder-developed countries, but in so-called civilized lands women are mistreated, under-valued and almost slaves to their menfolk.
Elisa M. says In Korea and Japan, people don't celebrate Women's day. They have Mother's day and Day for Respect to the Elderly (Granny and Grandpa), and a White Day (March 14th), when men who had received chocolates and presents from girls on Valentine's day, give in return cookies, candies and small presents.
Harold P. says Over half a century of watching those who would profit from the perks of inequality press back at the momentum of equal access has shown me very clearlly that they.....never......go.....away. Celebrate these gains and never forget monsters who lurk.
Etta Delforge says Many people--especially men--feel that there is no longer any need for a feminist movement, and that women have as many rights as men, or as many as they ned to have. Practically no one realizes that in poorer countries, women are mistreated as a matter of course. I think everyone needs to read Half the Sky--depressing and shocking, like plunging your head in a bucket of ice-cold water for someone who thinks no one needs to fight for women's rights anymore.
Jacqui E. says We've advanced so much in so many areas, yet we are still held as second class citizens in many countries. It is these people I worry for.
Claudia z. Says Forever will exist preconception ideas from some kind of peoples who ignore women’s rights, and who treat us not like human beans with brain and heart. They think we are only slaves and we must only work without keep thinking, like machines! Fear it's the biggest enemy of women’s to scream their rights!
Bee Hive Lady says It has taken thousands of years for women to have their own voice. Sometimes still the opinions of women are discounted. So women, please be informed and please speak out.
Erin R. says Thanks for the post. I’m worried about Tibetan women. Free Tibet!
Onni M. says While I see that women have advanced in some areas, it is clear that little has really changed for women. While women continue to be second class citizens in their own lands, while women continue to carry the burden of work while receiving little or none of the benefits, it is clear that little has really changed for women. While women live in fear for their lives and continue to be punching bags for those who refuse to settle their differences in a responsible, healthy manner, it is clear that little has really changed for women. While women are the last hired and first fired, it is clear that little has really changed for women.
